I achieved my intention of taking up all of my time with analog photography in 2025. One of the events I consistently attended was Ferries On Film. As the event title says, we ride the ferry and take pictures on film. The group meets once a month and anywhere from five to two hundred people attend. We usually ride the Seattle to Bainbridge Island ferry which takes about half an hour one way. During the crossing, photographers scurry all over the ferry looking for their next picture. Sometimes we walk around Bainbridge, sometimes we immediately turn around and take the ferry back to Seattle. Early in the year, FOF was a great way to develop skills and experiment with new cameras and films. Here are some of my favorites.

The following three pictures are from a recent FOF and I like them quite a bit. They are more intentional than photos from earlier in the year.

Now, at the end of 2025, I attend FOF for the community. The ferry is an interesting subject but I’m finding that it’s getting a little stale. A more interested photographer might buckle down and try to find something new in the familiar but I have other interests. However, I plan on continuing to attend FOF in 2026. I’ve made friends and I love the community. Even if I’m a little indifferent towards the pictures.
